How-To-Play Guide

First steps, recipes, mob combat, and settings for Thirst On

Overview

Thirst On introduces a hydration system to survival gameplay, requiring players to obtain clean water, carry hydration containers, and construct filtration stations.

The thirst system introduces a hydration bar that works similarly to the hunger bar.

Thirst gradually lowers your hydration depending on modifiers.

Staying hydrated is crucial, as dehydration has severe consequences.

Water Containers and Progression

The basic Wooden Cup is your first water container.

It is easy to obtain thanks to its simple crafting recipe.

The Wooden Cup holds 2 units of water.

Crafting a Wooden Cup requires three wood planks.

The Clay Flask is the first upgrade from the Wooden Cup.

It offers more capacity while remaining easy to craft.

The Clay Flask holds 5 units of water.

Crafting a Clay Flask requires three bricks.

The Copper Canteen is your first high-capacity water container, making it ideal for longer travels.

The Copper Canteen holds 8 units of water.

Crafting a Copper Canteen requires three copper ingots and one piece of string.

The Waterskin is the most efficient water container, holding more than any other.

The Waterskin holds 10 units of water.

Crafting a Waterskin requires three rabbit hides and one piece of string.

Water Purification and Filters

Water filters are used to obtain fresh water when no fresh water source is nearby.

Murky water can be filtered with the Makeshift Water Filter item or the stationary Water Filter.

Crafting a Makeshift Water Filter requires an empty cup, paper, charcoal, and wheat.

The stationary Water Filter can purify large amounts of murky water.

A Water Barrel must be placed underneath the Water Filter block.

Water Barrels are large stationary water storage blocks, mainly used to collect fresh water from water filters.

A Water Barrel stores up to 80 units of fresh water.

Salt water can be filtered with the stationary Salt Water Filter.

The Salt Water Filter is the only way to purify salt water.

A Water Barrel must be placed at the right side of the Salt Water Filter.

Avoid salt water, as it is unsafe to drink and inconvenient to purify.

Drinking salt water increases your thirst.

If you consume too much at once, you will become dehydrated instantly.

Frozen water must be melted on a Campfire before it can be filtered as Murky Water.

Utility Belts

Belts can be worn in the leg armor slot.

They hold up to 8 water bottles, keeping them ready to use and your inventory tidy.

Keep one bottle in your inventory.

Drinking it will move the next bottle from your belt into your hand.

Crafting a Clay Flask Belt requires four leather pieces and an empty clay flask.

Crafting a Copper Canteen Belt requires four leather pieces, an iron ingot, and an empty copper canteen.

Crafting a Waterskin Belt requires four leather pieces, a diamond, and an empty waterskin.

Functional Wells

Wells give you access to fresh water anywhere you build them in the Overworld.

Build a Well Base and place either a pump or a crank on top to access the well.

You can drink directly from wells or fill water containers with fresh water.

The Well Drill is used to craft a Well Base.

Crafting a Well Drill requires four iron ingots and one diamond.

To draw water from a well, you need either a Well Crank or a Well Pump placed on top of a Well Base.

Crafting a Well Crank requires seven sticks, a string, and a bucket.

Well Roofs are purely decorative blocks.
